EDAKKAL CAVES

Edakkal Caves are two natural caves located 1000 meters high on Ambukuttymala, inside the caves are pictorial writings believed to be from Neolithic man, evidence of the presence of a prehistoric civilization existing in this region. Such Stone Age carvings are very rare and these are the only known examples in southern India.

REGIONAL AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH STATION (RARS)

This station conducts research on spices, tropical and sub tropical fruits, vegetables and hill paddy. RARS also have a nursery with a large collection of rare roses, Dahlia and ornamental plants. Visitors can purchase seeds and saplings at the sales

Counter. (Timing 9.30 am to 3.30 pm)

PHANTOM ROCK

Located close to, Phantom Rock named so because of its skull head shape is locally called Cheengeri Mala. The immediate surroundings offer excellent photo opportunities. Free entry.

KARAPUZHA DAM

This   is one of the biggest Earth Dams of the county. The reservoir with partially submerged hills forming green islands makes an ideal place for aquatic birds. The waterscape against the backdrop of verdant mountains makes the spot picturesquely beautiful.

SENTINAL ROCK WATERFALLS
Soojipara / Sentinal Rock Waterfalls is one of the beautiful places in Wayanad. The waterfall is beautiful and soothing. The trek however is a 900mtr trek up and downhill one way.

POKKOT LAKE
The perennial fresh water Pookot Lake, nestled among wooded hills, is a one of its kind in Kerala. Evergreen forests and rolling hills envelope the lake with boating facilities, children's park, fresh water aquarium etc.

CHAIN TREE
The large Ficus tree bound by a prominent chain is the source of a dramatic local legend. It is believed that a priest chained a troublesome spirit into this tree. Free entry & no time limit.

WAYANAD GHAT SECTION
The green ghat enroot to Wayanad has nine hairpin bends, ach turn taking one to higher altitude offering a better view of the picturesque plain below. No time limit & free entry.

SULTHAN BATHERY JAIN TEMPLE
This Temple is one of the most important amongst a series of ruins spread across the state of Kerala that testify to a period of a strong Jain presence in this region. Built in 13th century.

(Timing 8 am to 12 noon, 2pm to 6 pm) Free entry.

MUTHANGA & THOLPETTY WILDLIFE SANTUARY
Jeep Safari at Muthanga Wildlife sanctuary & Tholpetty Morning 7AM to 10 AM, only 40 jeep will be allowed, Collect token before 6.30am in front of Sanctuary

Evening 3PM to 5PM, only 20 jeep will be allowed, Collect token before 2.30am in front Sanctuary

Fee Adult 115/-, Children 40/-, Foreigner 300/-, Transportation & taxes extra.

BANASURA SAGAR DAM
It is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia. Speed boating is the main attraction here. A quaint feature is a series of islands that were formed when the reservoir submerged the surrounding areas. Fee Adult 20, Children 10

PAZHASSI RAJA TOMB
Pazhassi Raja, the Lion of Kerala, who organised guerilla type warfare against British East India Company, was cremated here in 1805. Mini archeology museum and numismatic is another attraction

THIRUNELLI TEMPLE
The temple is dedicated by Brahma to Vishnu in the form of Chaturbhuja. Often referred to as Dakshina Kasi (the Kasi of South), this temple draws pilgrims from all over, primarily for ancestral rites.

CHEMBRA PEAK
Chembra peak is the highest peak in Wayanad at 2100m. above mean sea level. Trekking to the top of this peak takes almost a day. The scenic beauty of Wayanad which is visible from the top of Chembra is very challenging and thrilling.

URAVU
Uravu a non-government organization working with people strives for empowering marginalized social groups, especially the traditional artisans, women and the Indigenous People.

KARLAD LAKE
The lake spreads in an area of 7 acres and is a place where you can be with yourself, more so because it is not a huge tourist hotspot.

WAYANAD HERITAGAE MUSEUM
The Museum displays tribal relics and artifacts of items ranging from the Neotholic age to the 17th century, including artifacts from ordinary tribal life, decorated memorial grave stones once used to adorn the graves of heroes, and terracotta figures.

KURUVA ISLANDS
Kuruva islands are a group of some islands located in the middle of one of the tributaries of the east-flowing river Kabani. This 950-acre tract of uninhabited land is rich in flora and fauna. (Timing 9.00am to 3.30 pm)
